Stock.Xchng is another huge, extremely good royalty free photo archive.
They offer most of the images in very high resolution which is great. Always start with graphic material that is far larger than you actually need. That way you have flexibility. What if you want to turn your design into a print piece later? So pick the largest possible format and make sure to archive your raw materials so you can always go back to them later.

Meanwhile, be careful to read the "image license" information on any photo you might want to use. The rules regarding what you can and can't use the images for differ from picture to picture.

Also, if you take photos yourself, why don't you join the stockxchang and upload some of your own and share and share alike? You can set your own terms regarding ways in which you wouldn't want your image to be used, i.e. not for commerical purposes.
